Pictured is a close up of my latest series of work, “Stitched Prints”. These are original, one of a kind prints. They are created on a semi-soft surface, such as a gelatin “block”. The block is inked, the surface is manipulated, then paper or fabric is placed on top and rubbed. The print is pulled and allowed to dry. After studying the print, the surface stitching begins which reinforces the texture, color, and direction.
I have a life-long love of sewing and fiber related arts. The equally cherished pull (no pun intended) of printmaking and painting has morphed with stitching into this new collection or series of work. These prints are matted and framed simply and elegantly. They make an intriguing, quiet yet dynamic statement on the wall.
